Making RF phasing cables

Phased yagi array

Why do I need 8 cables the same length?

To get the best results from a multi yagi array you need to accurately phase the 4 yagi's (or more or less) together using phasing cables of the same electrical length.

Cutting the cables

Use this easy way to make repeat cuts of the same length of coax. In my case I use 13mm M&P coax but this will work with all sizes of coax. Click here for details

Measuring the phase

I use the SDR kits Vector Network Analyzer - DG8SAQ VNWA3  to determine my cables electrical length. I use the S11 phase measurement at the desired frequency. For more info click here

Selecting the right cables

Phasing 4 antenna together requires 4 cables of the same electrical length (or 8 cables for a 4 yagi X-pol H/V system). Select two groups of 4 cables (for the H-pol and V-pol) system using a list like this one. Click here
